the birthday weekend was a success!! everything went according to plan and she was sooo surprised.
you want to know what we did? ok...where to start?!
first, they stopped my place for brunch. i have never made a brunch for a group of people so i was scrambling all week to find the perfect dishes. thanks to smitten kitchen's whole wheat apple muffins and martha stewart's canadian bacon strata, it went off without a hitch. i think a pat on the back is well deserved!
once brunch was over she went to justin's place where we all met up to go off into the city. now we didn't just take a few taxis into the city, oh no no, we went in style. stretch limo style. she was soooo surprised! she kept saying, "this is just like the movies!!" i am sure if there had been a sun roof she would have been standing out of it and yelling, just like in the movies! the stretch limo wasn't the big surprise, the big surprise was jersey boys!!!!!! when we drove up and she saw that marquee, she thought she was going to faint. that definitely would have put a damper in our plans. it really was an amazing show. if you ever have the opportunity to see it, take advantage. i promise you will not regret it.
sunday, we laid low and local. for brunch we went to the old stan's which is now rothchilds. it was delicious. they have the best grits. the only must do was the brooklyn flea market. mom and grandma really got into it.

to end the celebration weekend justin and kierstin made a delicious dinner and we had birthday cake. my manager at work has a cake business called heavenly bites cakes.. she did a great job on the cake. it was a shell cake with a lemon cake and lemon custard filling. yummy!
